At last after trying so many different ways i have found one that keeps my home-made bread fresh and does not eat up kitchen space. Not sure about the spacer i do not like using plastic as nicks can get into the bread.
I can only agree with others that the acrylic bread keeper is absolutely brilliant. It keeps bread so fresh and soft – there’s no comparison with a plastic bag or an ordinary bread bin. Loaves don’t last longer than 3 days in our house anyway, but while they used to be tending to the stale side on the third day they are now almost as fresh as when they come out of the bread maker. Would give 6 stars if i could.
Having recently bought a bread making machine which produces great results had two problems- due to consistency of fresh bread really difficult to slice evenly and due to the lack of additives going into home made bread going stale much quicker than shop bought loaves. This purchase solved both problems. The slicing guide ensures perfect slices every time even on the freshest softest loaves and the perspex bread bin extends the life of the loaf incredibly. Wouldn’t be without it now.
Having bought a breadmaker for the first rime, we realised that we needed all of the bits to go with the new ‘hobby’ and, for my wife, that included a guide so that the soft new loaf didn’t get mangled in the slicing. Actually, our electric meat slicer cuts the bread well but i like thicker slices than that machine can manage when i have toast. In looking for a slicing guide, i can across this plastic bread bin that happened to come with a slicing guide for free and, as it was only a bit more expensive than the guide alone, i ordered that. The bin is quite sturdy and it does, as advertised, keep the bread very well indeed, with the small ventilation holes preventing the bread from ‘sweating’. The fact that the bin is telescopic helps as, when the loaf decreases in size as you eat it, the storage gets smaller. And because the slicing guide fits inside the bin, the whole thing is as compact as it can be. Here’s a science fact for those who’ve never heard it before. Most things keep for longer if stored in a ‘fridge. It just so happens that the perfect temperature at which the bacteria in bread causes mold to form is exactly the same temperature as that inside your ‘fridge, so keeping your bread in the ‘fridge will shorten its shelf life, not lengthen it.

A really useful, well made product. I make a lot of my own bread, even though l have arthritic hands, and l wanted a bread “bin” to show off baking at the same time keeping it fresh. This product was perfect, especially as it included a bread slicing guide, something l had difficulty with but not anymore. The company was a delight to deal with. Highly recommended, well deserved 5 star rating.
This bread bin is good and as expected and i’m very happy with it. The slicing guide that came with it is useless. It only does one thickness and is very flimsy. I can cut bread more accurately by hand. Do not buy one of these it’s a waste of money.
Has made a huge difference to how long bread has lasted, plus a life saver to actually be able to cut a proper slice. We also purchased the brillant bread making book which has given the bread maker a new lease of life :).
Considered this several times – due to the mixed reviews – but finally took a chance. I really wasn’t impressed when i opened it and i wasn’t expecting it to be much good as it seemed rather flimsy. It took a couple of attempts to develop my technique but now i get perfect slices every time – even using my ancient bread knife and freshly baked bread. Even my left-handed son produces perfect slices rather than hacking my loaves as he used to. It is just the right size for large loaves from my panasonic breadmaker and the bread stays soft and fresh for up to 3 days (although admittedly it is very rare for a loaf to last us that long). Don’t be put off by negative reviews. This is definitely worth the money.
We only fairly recently bought a bread maker and cutting slices was a bit hit or miss. Sometimes it was too thin, sometimes it was too thick, but most of the time it was wedge shaped. The slicing guide is great and makes the slices nice and even. The expanding stay fresh keeper certainly seems to keep the bread nice and fresh. I would definitely recommend this product.
At first i just couldn’t make this bread storer work for me, mainly as i could not get it to separate once i had put the bread in and pushed the two ends together. So i put it back in the box and thought what a load of rubbish , i have been stupid buying this. Then after a few days i tried it again and then i discovered that it works very well if i stand it on it’s back to open it. The outer bigger half lifts off upwards without effort. I use it permanently now for my home baked bread and it is kept just right by this brilliant bread store with it’s holes for minimal air supply which bread requires to stay fresh.
This is actually a simple idea. Having cut my finger slicing an end piece of home made bread recently, something i’ve always attempted to avoid doing as it was a fairly deep cut, i decided to look around for something that would prevent further bleeding fingers, this bread slicer is it. The guide is just about right, in terms of size of slices, fitting into a toaster no issues, and although, as has been mentioned by a couple of reviewers the plastic base of the slicer is fairly flimsy and will sustain damage if continually ‘sliced at’, it is very simple to cut as many slices as required, but not quite all the way through, remove from slicer and finish the job on the bread board.
I have the same problem as others – the white vertical cutting guides are not substantial enough and one has already come loose. Great product design, but inadequate manufacturing quality.
However, it’s functional and does keep bread fresh. There’s no information on the packaging regarding it being 100% bpa free, but feel that due to the nature of this type of plastic that the claims are valid. The bread slicer is a handy extra as it doubles as a cooling rack too, but it is a little flimsy.
I have a panasonic bread maker and was fed up of going through loads of foil trying to keep my loaves fresh. It is doing a brilliant job of keeping my bread fresh and the free guide cutter thingymajig is priceless. No more wonky doorsteps and i highly recommend this product.
Keeps bread fresh but find it a bit small so have to put loaf in at an angle and without guide. Slicer guide good idea as i’m useless at cutting bread.
Having recently bought a panasonic breadmaker, i was on the lookout for something to help me slice my freshly-baked bread, as i’d heard it was tricky. The product consists of a white plastic slicing guide and a clear plastic expanding “bread bin” in two parts which slot inside each other. There are two small holes on either end of the assembled storer to allow the bread to breathe without letting it dry out too much. Because it expands and contracts to fit the loaf, it doesn’t take up unnecessary space on your worktop. The slicing guide works well – the resulting slices are quite thin, but if you wanted a chunkier slice you could simple skip one or two of the slots. Because it’s made of plastic, i have noticed that my bread knife causes some minor scratches on the base of the slicing guide, but this is purely cosmetic and not a problem. Slicing very fresh bread is possible but difficult, so i prefer to leave my freshly baked loaves overnight to fully cool, before taking my first slice. I also tend to keep the bread unsliced until i need to use it, although sometimes if i’m not going to use a loaf in the few days it’s able to stay fresh for, i will slice the whole thing and freeze it in portions.
Properly packed & merchandise just as pictured & explained. Will take a lot much less space than prior bread bin & matches into wall cupboard. The bread saved has stored fresher than prior to. Like the slicing attachment. This was also the cheapest rate observed from any other supplier & web sites.
If i have a single gripe, it is the simple fact that the 2 segment container has no grips do you can pull the sections open. As it is, you have to have arms like loo lids i inserted document tags at either stop of the sections so i just pull on them to open up. Otherwise great style and design, useful and retains all my residence made bread from bread maker and any grocery store loaf far too. A substantial bloomer could be a bit way too huge for it.
I acquired this soon after almost slicing my finger idea off just one morning with a bread knife, the slicing manual appears to be like a good strategy, but i will be impressed if it lasts any length of time, the guides are very flimsy and feel like they could fairly simply snap and thanks to the spacing you conclude up with white bits of plastic amongst your breadcrumbs. I will see how i get on with it, but if i was to invest in one particular once more i would seem for anything a bit far better top quality. As for the acrylic bread bin form matter, it does the job, but perhaps a tiny small for some loafs.
Just acquired this and am pretty happy, already experienced a go at slicing bread, having into account the other reviewers fears about the slicing motion remaining brittle, but it worked well, no a lot more uneven slices.
All right, so i have celiac condition, and just after considerably demo and mistake, i last but not least found a gluten totally free loaf i like – regrettably it is unsliced, prices £3. fifty a pop and without the need of are unsuccessful generally goes moldy in advance of its utilized by date. Thank goodness for this duo is all i have to say. The expandable bread box absolutely functions to support maintain bread, and is so clever the way it adjusts in on itself to cut down as the sizing of the loaf diminishes. I can fortunately ensure that i ate out of date bread now for my lunch – and it was completely high-quality – no mold by any means, and although it was not tremendous fresh, it was not stale possibly. Now, my freehand bread slices arrive in two sizes – door chunks or bottomless triangles. If this seems acquainted, the slicing guide could possibly just be the kitchen area gadget for you. I would advise having care with the slicing manual as they are rather flimsy, and putting in the dishwasher is a no go. Check out to maintain on to the bread although slicing instead than the sides of the gadget, and be cautious to quit cutting as before long as you contact the bottom so as to not score the plastic. Some other details well worth noting about the slicing information : the base is slippy.
No hesitation in recommending, i purchased this more than twelve months in the past and have only just resolved to give it a overview. In as superior a condition now as it was when i obtained and has been used pretty much day by day. Keeps the bread fresh, i like the actuality that it is distinct, gives me satisfaction in on the lookout at the bread that my breadmaker has developed, and usually takes small room in the cupboard.
